Sorry didn't mean to imply that it didn't work for Informix-to-Informix. I'd be more tempted to use Praxis for it than not, for remote replication, i.e. from Florida to California, or maybe even from two different servers-- who knows. The GUI client interface is very good, and essential. However, it's my understanding that the primary benefit of using Informix for an Informix-to-Informix solution is that Informix is scanning the logs and not depending on triggers. Are triggers/sp's a problem on a large volume operation? Don't know, but the small volume replication with Praxis is a marvel to watch--very smooth, and very fast. I saw Informix-to-Informix replication about a year ago run agonizingly slow. Praxis has done a fine job of figuring out what the average shop would have to take months to figure out, and the documentation is a great primer on replication. Inexperience in this area could be quite costly. I have not really spent any time on the Informix replication features, as Praxis is doing a really nice job--so far. I have not heard anything good about Informixs' in the past, and it's only recently that it has supposedly improved. At any rate, the user interface for Informix--or SQL-Server--replication is sparse. SQL-Server has problems with CASCADING replication that will be fixed in the upcoming service pack, but that's not available yet. (Cascading replication is where you go from a-->b-->c machines ) If you're new to replication you are in for a greater education than you may realize.
