Re: NEED INFO FAST !!!!!! INFORMIX USED WITH VFP OR VB

billy, not trying to steal your thunder here (referring to the other message), but i like totally and for sure agree. ms-vb is cute, it has much of the fancy screen crud built in, but it just does not (nor will it soon) be an industrial strength product (let the flames begin). seriously, i have not had very much luck in getting msft's beta-quality software to work as advertised. i have tried the client/server via vb and i cannot begin to say the enourmous hassle it is to get software that is bug-lite (notice i didn't say free) to work the way it is expected to. i used to be a strong advocate of ms-wintel products but feel they are going after the joe schmo in marketing that wants to put together a presentation for something--and he really doesn't know much about computers, but has all the "21 days to become a ??? expert" books. that's why i like the informix product. it has a tendency to just work. yeah, it might not be the prettiest as far as the interface goes, but it is quick, efficient (unlike my message), and easy to work with. so i don't know any "tricks of the client-server developer" to give, other than to be cautious--and save your work often, and for god's sake watch out for those pesky GPFs. -k -- kpavlish@NO.SPAM.themailroom.com Hey Spambots - blow.me@you.bigloser.org "Billy Wheeler" <billy@west.co.za> wrote in article <5b4o5i$o7j@cssun.mathcs.emory.edu>... > On 9 Jan 97 at 14:08, Tom Schraer wrote: > > > Has anyone developed a package using informix with either Visual > > FoxPro or Visual Basic.
