The client runs on a Next Station and the server runs on a RS-6000 with Informix On-Line and C, using Remote Procedure Calls (TRPC's) to communicate between them. The client sends to the server a data structure containing some informiation about a Math problem (my database deals with math problems( and a PostScript image of the problem (this contains the text and all the graphics that go with the problem, and it's used for printing purposes). The problem arises when I try to take this PostScript and put it into the database. For that, I defined a Byte field in my database and a Byte var in my program, this Byte variable is located in MEMORY. When the data arrives to the server I call a C function that moves the PostScript code to the locator variable (t_blob type in C, used for accessing a BLOB) and then I insert this Byte variable in the database, using 4gl. The problem is that this is not working. The manual does not contain many information about this subject and, I know that I could locate my variable in a FILE, but this would require to create a file in my Next Station containing the PS code, ftp-ing it to the server and then inserting it into the database, and all this process takes longer. Have you any idea how to manipulate the Byte in MEMORY? Thanks in advance. Any idea I'd be glad to receive it at any of these addresses: alfonso@mtecv2.mty.itesm atrevino@servinf.mty.itesm Alfonso Trevino Information Services Department ITESM
