composite join?

Does anyone know..........? What use is the "composite join" without the verify "*" SYNTAX: COMPOSITES <table1.col1,table1,col2[, table1.col3[, ...]]> [*]<table2,col1,table2,col2[, table2.col3[, ...]]>[;] I can effectively use the join to require a PAIR of table fields to match a PAIR in another table, thereby insuring some degree of data integrity. If I leave off the optional "*", there appears to be no constraint on the data I can enter in the "composite" fields as you would expect if no "verify" is running. What is happening without the "*" option that I might take advantage of. Any help appreciated.
