RE: Note to Kate...

Not a technical thread at all: it's a flame war between a poster using the alias "Wikking" and ex-IBMer Ian Michael Gumby over whether IBM is being honest with the Informix/IDS community. Gumby cites hearsay and named accounts (a US Army no-bid IDS maintenance deal, Northern Trust, Chicago Public Schools, TTX allegedly moving to SQL Server) as evidence of IBM's decline; Wikking demands verifiable sources and names of the claimed insiders. No technical problem is posed and no resolution is reached – the exchange just ends in mutual accusations of being unverifiable gasbags.

How many MIPS are being lost at TTX? DB2 getting phased out at CPS? oh there are more. ;-) Like I said, there are a lot of ex-IBMers, including some Oracle reps, who have contacts back inside and hear things. _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live™: Keep your life in sync. http://windowslive.com/explore?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_t1_allup_explore_022009

Oooh, can you name names or provide a URL or spreadsheet???? If you cannot, then I suggest you're just another gasbag. See the irony? -- }(:

Yes I can name names. I can name client names too. In fact I just did, and of course this information is pretty much public knowledge. I posted the URL on the US Army deal where the no-bid license deal was awarded to IBM and that these license renewals were because the US Army wanted to hedge their bets with their Oracle migration. In fact I even presented a quote. CPS Chicago Public Schools? LOL I just spoke to an old friend who's a recruiter now and she's trying to fill a couple of SQLServer DBAs, which happens to be the only open position in CPS, everything else is frozen. And of course TTX, got the heads up on that from yet another recruiter who claimed to have placed the director there responsible for the project and he's clammoring for C# and SQLServer .Net gurus. So yeah, those can be confirmed by the local sales teams who cover those accounts. Seems to me, the only one full of hot air, is you. BTW, Why don't you ask your best buddies in the lab about Northern Trust and Q4 of 2000? Yeah, Jan 2001 was such a blast. More S&D fsck ups. Ever wonder why Chicago's Financial District is considered a 'White Space' for IBM? Kind of weird when you think that it was because of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange that MQ Series was created. At least thats how the story goes. So do you really want to talk about past and current customers? Do you really want to talk about how we can tell that IBM has been less than truthful with the IDS community? C'mon junior, I've got lots of stories... -G

Since you weren't paying attention... The United States of America Army extended a 'no bid' contract to IBM for maintenance licenses on their existing IDS application. This was done because the Army wanted to hedge their bet in case there was an issue with their Oracle roll out of the replacement application. I also mentioned Northern Trust and CPS and TTX. Of course CPS is DB2 LUW and TTX is DB2 z/OS Why don't you share more information about yourself. You make some wild statements which have no verifiable sources and since you're an alias that's only 72 hours old, you lack any credibility. What a tosser!

Yet you didn't name the names of all these people that have insider information as you alleged. Good night. -- }(:
