Left Justification of VARCHAR

Hi.. Users I am trying to print the data of a varchar in to file, using the control format e.g fprintf(fp,"%20S",abc); Now, the problem is its dosen't get left justified, if I declare abc as VARCHAR. But it gts left justified if I define it as CHAR. So, is there any way to printf VARCHAR left justified. Thanks in advance.....
