Re: running a procedure based on a schedule
Posted in 2006
You've got a couple of options... you can create a script or you can write
and compile a program. The easiest is a script.
Create a .sql file that contains the SQL code to execute the stored
procedure.
example: my_proc.sql
execute procedure my_proc();
Create a script that sets the environment variables needed and then runs
dbaccess.
example: my_script.sh
#!/bin/csh
setenv INFORMIXSERVER ol_myserver
setenv INFORMIXDIR /somewhere/ids_isntalled
setenv PATH $INFORMIXDIR/bin:$PATH dbaccess mydatabase /somewhere/my_proc.sql
and then you create a cron job that executes the script, see man pages for
how to schedule a job via cron.
