We run Sequent's here, and I too was optimistic when I saw the Cockpit manual when I opened the box. Originally, Cockpit was only going to ported to SUN and HP. Later I heard they ported to IBM also, but nothing else. The info I am getting form Informix is, these are the only platforms which they are porting to. The story goes, that Cockpit was a short term answer for the need to have decent monitoring tools. Cockpit was to fill in until Informix could produce their own tools, which are to be wrapped into the Tivoli Management Environment. (cockpit was written by a company in Isreal, and showed at the IWUC last year). These new tools/framework are (last I heard) scheduled to be released with version 8.0 So.....what I ask is, what are we to do? Appearently people with large DB servers do not need these tools? Come on Informix, get with the program.
