Hi One issue here could be caching. If memory serves me right, that ODBC driver pulls data unto the client and stores it there which will explain the performance decrease. As an alternative, you could in theory try out the OpenLink ODBC drivers for Informix which uses a Managed Client to communicate with Server Side components which employ server side caching, thereby utliising the Server's own processing power. I'm in the memory-leak fan club. The real problem is that you are on Windows, so you take a performance hit just for that. The next problem is that you are on an old version of Windows, an old version of PHP ( in internet time ) and an old version of Informix. Next, you're using ODBC, so take more off for that. ODBC levels the playing field and reduces peformance while making things more portable. You should see if you can't use the ifx_ functions instead of ODBC calls, as the library functions bind to the network library for Informix which should be faster. But overall it sounds like a memory leak somewhere, with the description you gave. Informix or PHP could have the memory leak. See if you can move to a Linux box and a later release of Informix, PHP, and Apache. Apache could be contributing to the leak problem too. Good Luck!
