Informix stock tanks on bad news.
Posted in 1997
Got a phone call this morning from my Broker. Informix stock tanked under 10 due to reports of poor sales across the entire product line. I think that some of this falls on a poor product line definition and restructuring of the products. Nils has pointed out NE vs other tools. If you are going to Universal Server, Online 7.3 ? you are supposed to be able to write stored procedures in Java, C, or C++. Create your own data blade. (THis was said at last year's conference) So why NE? With JDBC/ODBC connectivity, and NE nolonger being cross platform, why go with a product which will cost more to implement than other solutions? While I am critical of Informix, I don't want to bash them. (Most of you know me and that I am very big on Informix.) Comments? -Uncle Mike. BTW, I'm going to be on the road for a short vacation so If I don't respond, it because I am doing the Uncle thang -- #include <std_disclaimer.h> /* Mike Segel (MS385) */ #include <No_Spam.h> #ifdef OFFENDED_BY_CONTENT The author takes no responsibility for this post.
