For example, if I have 12 windows stations > with 12 users and each user opens 3 telnet windows and each window logs > into the sco unix system and each session starts an instance of the > Informix application, how many users does Informix see? 12 or 36? > > Thanks! > > Mark > > >>>> The Informix office in Norway tell us they'l accept upto 5 logins per user on one PC in this senario as one user as far as licensing goes. This is on versions of their engine that doesn't actually count users, but rely on your honesty. May be some newer versions has started counting in which case I do not know how it does this. I must also say that in my opinion any number of logins on one PC must be accepted as one user. If Informix doesn't agree on this they should tell us explisitly in big letter writing so we can all screem at them. I also think it is a pain that the single user version only lets me log in (with the same loginname from the same terminal) only once. I can start only one compile if it checks the database and I can start only one program. I relise and appreciate that Informix must and should have proper payment for their wares but this is too limiting. We often need a single user version at new customer sites, and some programmers will soon need this for working at home. Informix please...
