John, First off, I do not have any experience with SUN hardware. That said, the first thing that came to my mind was to try turning off KAIO. In our HP environment we have had intermitent issues with KAIO and have turned it off accross the board. As a result we have stopped seeing the situations where everything looks fine but nothings happening. Just my two cents.
