Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
A poster asked what IBM Informix offers for building a data warehouse at his company. One reply outlined the options: XPS for very large warehouses (banks, telcos, insurers), while standard IDS is adequate for small-to-medium warehouses, plus associated ETL tools and training courses, with the claim that Informix had long been strong in warehousing. No specific product list, benchmarks, or follow-up discussion appears, so the thread ends with this general advice rather than a concrete recommendation.

Yeah, XPS if you are planning on a seriously large warehouse, for example
in a bank, insurance company, telco, etc etc etc. The regular IDS engine
however can do an excellent warehouse for small to medium businesses.
As for the ETL phase, Informix is associated with some quite sophisticated
tools that can assist greatly. There are some excellent training courses
too if you are beginners, or plan on training new staff.
Informix took warehousing more seriously than the other vendors for a
longer time, so you'll generally find it's more advanced than the other
offerings.
