New Era - switching database connections

How can I switch between two database connections, one ixSQLConnectINFX and the other ixSQLConnectODBC, but still using throughout my code the same connection object ixSQLconnect::getImplicitConnection()? I have only been able to do this by resetting the Informix Server in SetNet32 each time I want to change databases. Accessing two databases using diffent connect objects is fine, but I want to use the same one i.e the implicit connection object.
