If I recall, the SQL relay module is named "sqlrm" and is found in $INFORMIXDIR/lib. To use it, you set the environment variable SQLEXEC to $INFMORMIXDIR/lib/sqlrm. Be sure your other 7.x variables (INFORMIXSERVER, ONCONFIG, etc.) are set properly. As far as performance goes, you may or may not notice a big difference. At one point I know there was a bug with the relay module using shared memory connections on HP/UX (maybe AIX too) that caused the sqlrm processes to chew up lots of CPU time even when "idle". I don't know if this bug was ever fixed. We got around it at the time by using a socket-based connection to the server. HTH, Irwin Goldstein Objective Software Systems, Inc. http://www.objectsoft.com
