Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Hello,
We have SE v5.12 and ISQL/I4GL v4.12. I have set up a cron job
in Unix to do a bcheck on all the files in the
$DBPATH/[database-name].dbs directory at 3:00 AM Monday to Friday.
The result is mailed to me. My problem is that the output includes the
following line:
ERROR: bad data record
My questions are:
1. Does anyone know what causes this? I'm assuming it's a corrupt
database but I checked the computer log if it had any power
surges (it did not show in the UPS log). The computer is on
24hrs x 7days and was rebooted more than a month ago. But what
I taught them to do now is to use kill -5 (not 9!) on the
sqlexec process. (I remember I got this kill -5 from a person
working at Home Depot in the USA)
2. Does anyone know how to fix this 'ERROR' besides typing
bcheck -s [some-table-name] in the DBPATH directory?
Pls. email or post. Thanks!
John
