You don't have to install any additional modules on Linux.
But if you do have to configure the database server to accept
connections over TCP. It is rather simpler:
1. Choose a service port number and add it to the /etc/services file,
like:
sqlturbo 1526/tcp
2. Edit the $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file and add there an entry
for network connections like:
mydbserver onsoctcp myhostname sqlturbo
mydbserver is the database server name, will go to INFORMIXSERVER
parameter.
myhostname is the Linux host name.
3. Edit your $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG file and add to the
DBSERVERALIASES the newly defined server:
DBSERVERALIASES mydbserver
4. Restart the database server. And I hope you'll get a working
connection.
Of course you have to correctly configure your ODBC driver
(specifically informix server name, service port - set it as a numbre,
i.e. 1526, if you'll set it as a service name you'll have to modify
the C:\\WINDOWS\\somewhere\\services file too).
