OnLine 5.20 and 4GL 7.31 UC3 on Linux SuSE Server 8.2 Thanks to everyone for helping me getting 4GL going. But I'd still like to be sure that the 4GL environment is running. When I run i4gldemo I get the error below (doesn;t matter if the database exists or not). Does anyone know of any other test app I could compile and run on my system to verify the 4GL installation? I'm afraid I'm not much of a developer. I'm not much of an anything actually .... :-( thanks Neil informix@whitchem:~> i4gldemo INFORMIX-4GL Sample Database and Examples Installation Script /usr/informix/5.20/lib/esql/libifos.a(osfileu.o)(.text+0xe9): In function `rmktpnm': : the use of `mktemp' is dangerous, better use `mkstemp' Dropping existing stores7 database .... Unable to drop existing stores7 database.\\n
I've got a little further with this, thanks to Hal Maner.
This is 5.20 "extended edition".
So, as I understand it, I don't need a sqlexecd process (there isn't one
anyway).
So, in my $TBCONFIG I have:
DBSERVERNAME ifx_tcp_1 # Unique name of this OnLine instance
In my sqlhosts:
ifx_tcp_1 olsoctcp 192.168.1.52 sqlexec
In /etc/services
sqlexec 5102/tcp # Informix Online Instance 1
But when I try to compile:
informix@whitchem:~> c4gl -o neiltest.4ge neiltest.4gl
DATABASE neil
MAIN
|
| Attempt to connect to database server (ifx_tcp_1) failed.
| See error number -908.
|
| The database "neil" cannot be found or opened. If the database
| exists, check the database permissions on the database. In
| addition, check the system permissions on the database directory
| and its ascendant directories.
| See error number -4305.
Thanks
