Data translation

Hi. My name is Kevin Kelly, and I'm try to translate an old Informix database that's currently located on a Unix System V Release 3 machine into a paradox database, or into a format that Paradox or DataJunction can read. Any ideas on how I should do this? Thanks in advance for your help. --Kevin Kelly

Chances are that DB-Export will give you an SQL schema and the unloaded data in the Informix format. You then have to worry about what Paradox or DataJunction can do with that. On average, I'd expect DJ to be able to convert the unloaded data OK, so you only have to fiddle with the schema. But I haven't actually use DJ so I might be speaking nonsense. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
Simply use
Unload to "filename.txt"
select * from table;
An ascii file is created with delimeter |, you can set delimeter to
whatever you want,
the neat feature is that with the select you can pull part of the fields,
join tables etc
Very powerfull tool.
