And introduce all the hassles of having your business logic in a 3GL with obscure, obfuscated code? I think not. Furthermore, while C syntax might be portable, I have seen plenty of evidence that C development environments are not. If you want portability, use 4GL RDS... :-) Before people start waving their hands around, I'd like to point out that we've generally obtained equivalent and, in some cases, superior performance using RDS rather than compiled 4GL. All our clients use RDS. We all love it. So there! :-) As for Java, I can only say (at this stage), "Feh!" And I know I've said it before. Plus you still have all the strain of learning OO programming.
