The reading I have done so far let's me take an archive of the whole partition onto tape or to unload a database (using tbunload) to tape. The second option seems the closest thing to a checkpoint however it has a few shortcomings: -> has to go to tape -> doesn't save privileges or synonyms This is unacceptable, what I would like is to be able to do is: -> take a complete image of a database that can be used to replace the database, without having to rebuild it (indexing, privileges) -> the image / checkpoint can be saved to a file on disk -> the image dump can be done in batch mode (a command that can be run via a shellscript) -> is anyone is familiar with INGRES, my request is for a 'ckpdb' command. Could you please mail me your responses. Thankyou Ralph. Ralph Gyoery. SBC Dominguez Barry MHSnet : ralph@dbsm.oz.au INTERNET GATEWAY : ralph%dbsm.oz.au@munnari.oz.au -- Ralph Gyoery.
