Meaning that its not part of IBM, so what would tweaking the nose of an IBM exec going to do? They are immune to anything that isn't directly part of their PBCs. So if it doesn't put money in to the pockets in the near term, they have no interest. _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Trusted email with Microsoft’s powerful SPAM protection. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/201469226/direct/01/

So customers complaining to IBM execs about the absence of publicity for Informix would have no effect?

Sure you'll get an exec to say that they'll look in to it, and cc' you on an e-mail, however beyond that... All just smoke and mirrors. To give you an example. Asked IBM SWG IM about R&D grants to jump start a potential use case for IDS. Keesee sends e-mail, cc's me. No response. request falls in the cracks. Bigger problems to solve and of course, WW Sales Manager for the product hasn't got a clue nor an incentive to grow the business. Just as Stu... :-) IBM is a bureaucracy and its easy to ignore something unless its your job and its in your PBCs. So unless you represent a large enough revenue stream, you're not going to get their attention. And again... are you willing to walk away from IDS and IBM over this issue? Didn't think so. So IBM will call your bluff. If its not a bluff, then by the time IBM considers that they are losing customers, or rather enough customers... it will be too late. IBM attends the IIUG conference. IBM sings the praises of IDS. Keeps the masses happy. But if you notice their 'go to Marketing' slides they produced a couple of years ago, the same slide could be rotated and reused to show DB2 as the path. The point is that they (IBM) are not doing anything but placating you so you don't leave IDS. As someone pointed out on LinkedIn. Junior DBAs fight the thought of having to go and work on IDS. But after working with it, they don't want to leave it. Can't say the same thing about DB2, Oracle or others. The only thing good about Oracle is job security. ;-) But hey! What do I know? I'm playing in the clouds ... ;-) -G _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Free, trusted and rich email service. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/201469228/direct/01/
