Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

->How can I be sure that a logical log file with U-B- flags does
->not contain a non commited transaction ?
I understand that the 'B' indicates the logfile has been backed
up to tape and is available for re-use (i.e. free). A logfile
will not be backed up to tape until all transactions within it
have been committed - therefore if it is flagged 'U-B' it always
means all transactions have been committed and saved to tape.
The only reason Informix changed from the old status (which I
forget - say 'Free') to 'U-B-' was to assist them if they need to
login and recover the system - by not deleting the contents of
logfiles even after they have been saved to tape Informix can get
an idea of what has occurred on your system recently... this is
what Informix told me when I first moved from v5 to v7 and asked
the same question?
Kind Regards
