How to avoid the starting of IDS in standby box?

Hi, A customer want to use SDS in the future, so they use the veritas CFS,but currently they want to use the tranditional HA model, one box is the production node, the other is cold standby. currently IDS already started on the production node, but they found IDS could start successful in the standby node also because they use the CFS, it will bring the risk,so I want to know how to config that IDS can't start in the standby node. thanks for your time.
Hi,
we had a similar problem starting from version 11.5.
Old config was to assign a specific IP interface in sqlhosts as
listening address.
Up to version 11.10, IDS did not start if the IP Interface was not up.
So we had a heartbeat config which activated the IP interface only when
we wanted
the cold standby to become active.
Since 11.5 this does not work any more. IDS just brings a warning that
the IP cannot be
bound and continues to start.
We now have copied the oninit program to oninit.ifx and wrote a shell
script,
which first tests the presence of the interface and then invokes
oninit.ifx.
You just have to take care when upgrading the engine to a new release.
Maybe that could solve your problem, too.

Rename the ONCONFIG file on the standby node. The failover script can rename it back to its proper name when needed. Make sure that this is well documented so no one gets confused in a crisis.
