On our system I ran the following, cat -vt </dev/mt05|more The Informix version, date, time etc were in the first page and the dbspaces that are meant to be on the tape were in the second page. I have not investigated further but assume a c program could be written to check the tape, numbers of pages in each dbspace etc. This may however be a non-trivial task.
