Even though they're mad at a company, they direct their anger against the most visible part of that company, namely, Tech Support. I realize that internal corporate distinctions are of little relevance to outside customers, but if you're going to direct your flames at a specific organization, at least have the courtesy to make sure your complaint is really with that particular organization. Otherwise, keep your flames more general. }What gets me is that they }require I have maintenance, i.e. tech support in order to recieve the }updates that I need. Now I don't know about you but paying for tech }support that has NEVER been of any real help is a ripoff. I would }LOVE INFORMIX to change there upgrade policy so that I can just pay }for the upgrades I need and not the tech support that I find a waste. }At least ORACLE lets you pay 50% of the product to upgrade WITHOUT }paying for tech support. And the real killer with INFORMIX is that }if you don't have maintenance they charge you 50% more to get it. }Maybe if I was a big company or the goverment with deep pockets I }would not care about this but I am a small company and just can't }waste my money on tech support that is a waste. Well, I don't know if you've ever read our maintenance policy, but such an animal does exist. It's called update-only maintenance. Ask for it by name.
