ESQL/C for Windows

Hello out there, actually we are using I-4GL RDS for developping INFORMIX applications. In the future we want to develop applications under MS-Windows with ESQL/C. Has anybody any experiences with ESQL/C??? Is it possible to use the Borland C-Compiler instead of Microsoft's compiler??? Why does INFORMIX only support the Microsoft compiler??? Any comments are appreciated...
