The occurence of these errors are increasing in frequency and ->I need all the help I can get. -> ->BTW: I am running Informix 4.0 and SCO UNIX 3.2 on a Compaq SystemPro/486 You need to read some of the documentation in the release directory provided with the Informix software. You don't say so, but you are using Standard Engine. On BSD machines, error -46 is as printed above, and error -79 is "No record locks available". On System V machines, the error number -46 should be translated as "No record locks available". All these problem clearly point to a requirement to reconfigure the kernel with an increased number of locks. How many you actually need depends on the workload; I would double the exsiting number, and keep doing so until the problem went away. If feeling very virtuous, I might then back off the last figure -- more likely, I'd be too busy on the next job to do more than be thankful that the problem's gone away.
