I don't know how to set up shared memory. I do know that you can treat a section of RAM to be used like hard disk (it was SCO and was refered to as RAM DISK) we successfully created the directory structure. The idea was to store '.frm' files and perhaps some small frequently used tables. The powers that be treated the idea as R&D work and didn't want any part of it , so we didn't go any farther.
