Oops ! In your case it's better to move critical dbspaces to RAID 1 or RAID 5. Any other data must be stored at RAID 1/0. Storing data on RAID 5 in OLTP system will dramatically decrease performance. RAID 1/0 is optimal for storing data. But in this case if you loose one of the disks, you need to restore this part of data fron your archive. So, you have to think much about your archive devices and archive strategy planning. Storing critical data on RAID 5 or 1 gives you good protection from full system crash because of disk filure. -- With best regards, Yuri Dovgart.
