Re: Bar coding input for 4gl

I used symbol technology equipment which allows a prefix and a suffix to be added to the read value. I've written my apps in such a way that they all have a menu item "Input" which fires and INPUT statement in my program. I also have OPTIONS INPUT NO WRAP set. Finally I've set up the reader to send "I" as a prefix and <CR> as a suffix. So my barcode reads, say, "12345" and when they scan it the machine sends "I12345<CR>" to the terminal thus completing the input cycle. I've no small number of routines all based around the same idea.. ------------------------------------------------------------------- These are *my* opinions.
