Problems at gateway site
Posted in 1992
There were some network problems here at Emory over the past weekend that caused the system running the gateway between the Informix mailing list and comp.databases.informix to be off the air for a while. Unfortunately that "while" was long enough to cause sendmail to kick back several outgoing messages. Judging from the bounces, messages with List-ID's <list.1576> and <news.2067> through <news.2072> failed to get out. I am re-mailing these to the list. On the Usenet side of the fence, things were less affected, except that a few messages posted to the list experienced a 3-4 day delay going through the gateway instead of being sent through immediately. And, of course, articles posted to c.d.i have also been delayed going out to the list. To my knowledge, the problems were all internal. The news host continued to receive and spool all c.d.i articles. If you posted something to the mailing list early in the problem period, your message may have bounced back to you. You should get an obvious bounce message if that occurred. It may take another day or so for things to smooth out. If you've posted something recently and haven't seen it yet, wait a little longer than usual before you assume that it didn't make it, or that no one has replied to it. Let me know if you have any questions, or if you need to check on a list message or news article.
