Hello, Is somebody professional Informix DBA coming to Estonia on vacation? The thing is, that I'm planning to upgrade our IDS 9.4 UC2 to IDS 9.4 UC4 (UC5?) on RHEL3 (2GHz hyperthreading processor, 1G RAM, Raid 1+0 10000rpm SCSI) and need some advices on tuning the database (~6GB in size, ~200 tables) I hope I have managed things so far quite well..database is up and running and there are almost no problems with it, but I'd like to have somebody to take a look at the current configuration. Also take a look at the tables and calculate extents..what else? indexes..? and give some hints and advices what should I look for.. The company (and Estonia in general) is small enough, that it is way too expensive to train me and it is way to expensive to hire a company to do the job..so I thought maybe somebody is coming to Estonia on vacation and is willing to help me. Of course it will be paid, if we agree in price. please contact me by e-mail. Vladimir vlads@krediidiinfo.ee

if you/your compamy can afford it, put another GB RAM into the box

as a start, post your onconfig.
If you have peak times (time when server is most busy)
do an onstat -z before the peak hours, this will clear
profile stats, then after peak hours record
onstat -D
onstat -p
onstat -g ppf
onstat -l
onstat -F
and tail -100 <whatever your online.log> is, andpost that here.
