I forgot to mention - a simple 486/66 with a vesa bus is too slow for a multi user unix system. Some solutions are a solid PCI ethernet card or fast, multiport IO cards. Each card should have a risc chip on it. Check out Megaport in Florida. Also it is important that all the disks are SCSI and not IDE. Like a past poster said, if you can keep all the terminal definitions in one file your life will be easier. This applies to a lot of stuff.
