Load Speed of SE
Just as a matter of interest, tonight I had to load up some of my wife's
patient records off a VAX database. 85Mb ASCII file, 463,310 records each
170 bytes long.
Total time using dbaccess with all defaults (100 row commit) was 22
minutes, 30 seconds for a *sustained* throughput of around 20,000 records
per minute. Naturally, no indexes active.
This on a SPARC 5 running SE 5.01. I like it.
(all you people with faster machines etc can now sneer at how slow this
was. :-) )
