Connection performance 7.10.uc2
Posted in 1995
Greetings! We are running under a Pyramid NILE 150, Informix 7.10.uc1. When we do not have users on the system, our transactions average 1 - 2 seconds. We then let users connect to the system from a user box. We notice a considerable performance degrigation once they start to connect. Has anyone seen a situation where any volumne of connections causes the server to almost "lock" people out while he makes the connections? It almost seems like OnLine is behaving as if he is in a checkpoint, because all the activity "freezes" until the user(s) make their connections. We have toyed with the idea of multiple DBSERVERALIASES to have multiple listener threads but I think this would cause the problem to happen in three different places. I am completly baffeled by this behavious. Can anyone shed any light on this?
