not enough free disk to restore
Posted in 2013
User lacked disk space to restore L0 and L1 backup files on a test machine. Solutions offered included: expanding files sequentially if holding the largest file was possible, using piped decompression with `gzip -d L0.gz L1.gz | ontape -r -t STDIO` (works if backup used stdio), or using ifxclone for version 11.70+. No definitive resolution confirmed in thread.

Hi to all I don t have enoygh space to put my l0 and l1 to restore a production instance on a test machine, i can compress lo and li files, so they can fit in this space but is the a war to decompress these files and restore the instance Thans in advance
If you can hold the larger of the files then expand the L0 file, restore it, delete it, then expand the L1 and continue the restore. the disk space is not enough :), i though about command line with pipe
gzip -d L0.gz L1.gz | ontape -r -t STDIO
do you think it works ?
If the backup was created using ontape -t stdio, this should work. If the
backup was taken
using a file with a backup_filter, this is not working, since the file backup
does not compress
the whole file.

If you are on 11.70 or later version of the server, you could use ifxclone
to clone test server.

As apparently Madison used to say - go to to Radio Shack and buy some more disk! David.
