Abort Select command

I am running 4GL RDS 1.10.03k under SCO Xenix 2.3.4 ( I know its ancient but no upgrade is available under Xenix). I can find no way of aborting a Select command once started, so if someone enters appropriate parameters they have to wait while a search of the whole db takes place? Any ideas?
