Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
A user on IDS 11.50.FC6W1 (Linux 64-bit) couldn't enable auditing: "onaudit -l 1" returned "Unable to connect to shared memory", and online.log showed -952 errors claiming informix's password was wrong. He also wondered whether the release note about "Operating-System Managed Auditing Not Supported" meant onaudit was gone. He resolved it himself by taking onconfig.std, applying the new parameters to his existing ONCONFIG file, and restarting the engine; auditing then worked. Art Kagel and Fernando Nunes clarified that auditing still exists -- only the option of sending the audit trail to the OS audit facility was dropped, so trails must go to OS files.

Hello, friends.
Running 11.50.FC6W1 on a linux_64 test machine.
I´m trying to test onaudit again (since there was a bug on FC4, we had to
disable it).
Ok now I´m trying to start it again, with command:
onaudit -l 1
and then it returns a message: "Unable to connect to shared memory."
on our online.log there are some "strange" messages, like this:
12:10:00 listener-thread: err = -952: oserr = 0: errstr = informix@s094: User
(informix@s094)'s password is not correct for the database server.
Is there any o.s. configuration missing??? Why I can access dbaccess, and so
on, and onaudit´s showing this????
Regards!
Hello, friends.
There´s a topic on the Release Notes (this is 11.50.FC6W1 on linux_64) ok?
---------------------------------
1.19 Features No Longer Supported
The following utilities or features of earlier Dynamic Server releases
are not supported in version 11:
1.19.1 Operating-System Managed Auditing Not Supported
Operating-system managed auditing is no longer supported.
----------------------------------
That means onaudit has been "turned off"???
Regards.
Sorry about the inconvenienct, friends.
I´ve taken my onconfig.std and applyed all the new parameters to the
original file, restarted the engine, and now it´s working just fine!
Regards!

No. IDS auditing still exists.

Hello.
Audit exists. In fact it's an hot topic these days...
Traditionally IDS supported two types of auditing destinations:
1- Operating system files (audit trail)
2- Operating system audit facilities.
2) was discontinued. So you have to generate your audit trail in operating
system files.
Regards.
