Multiple concurrent connections per client

Hi all, I am working with online version 5.0 and need to open more than one connection to the database. I require this for implementing concurrrent mutually exclusive transactions. Ie. I must be able to commit one transaction and use the results within another transaction that may only commit at some later stage. I do understand that this breaks the traditional transaction model but then again we do live in the real world :-). I do not want to implement the notion of agents, as this creates unnecessary maintenance and portability problems. Can this be done with online release 5. If not is there a version of informix online that does support this. Note that i am using ESQL/C. Thanks in advance, Theo Kramer theo@rascal.co.za
