SQL function to convert a string to upper-case

hi folks, I am new to the Informix World; Is there a SQL function in Informix SQL that converts a varchar data to all uppercase ( similar to Oracle's UPPER/INITCAPS function)? For eg. select first_name,last_name from user_information where UPPER(first_name)=upper('Joe Blo'); thanks in advance. ashi@thomtech.com
