Some requirements:
Which Informix version? You need I-net which is included since IDS 5 (?).
In $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts of source_server you need an entry similar to
dest_tcp ontlitcp destination_server i_net
In /etc/services of both servers you need an entry like
i_net 1527/tcp # the 1527 must not be used before, can be any
number
Of course destination_server must be known TCPIP host.
Then you may do something like
INSERT INTO dest_database@dest_tcp:table
SELECT * FROM src_database:table WHERE ...
Hope this helps.

Subject: Inserting data into another server.
Is it possible to write code in Informix-4gl to move data from one server
to
another.
I'm planning to do something like
INSERT INTO destination_server.tables...
SELECT * FROM source_server.tables ....
WHERE .....
Is there any constraints ???
How do u specify the server name in SQL statement ????
Thanks

This indeed works nicely. Some restrictions:
Although this should officially not happen, when using smart blobs
to do this, it shows error 999: Not implemented yet. The description
of finderror for this says literally:
This internal error should not appear. If the error recurs, please
note all circumstances, and contact the Informix Technical Support
Department.
I'm using universal server 9.14 UC 5, I think there might be a
revision out since, but have not tried it yet.
Part of my code actually depends on this working reliably for blobs
too, sadly it appears not to be so. I'm using a hokey filedump and
load at the remote db to take care of this now.
