ONBAR performance tuning

Hello All,
Is there any way to tune the performance of backup/restore using onbar and
ontape?
Hello.
Of course you could use onbar (recommended). I recommend the use of
paralel backups for your dbspaces (if you have a large instance),
and tune your tape parameters (block transfer size), according to your
backup server capacity.
Check the Information Center according to your Informix version, backup
parameters are there. (you didn´t mentioned)
Regards!

The biggest issue is to make sure your aio/kaio is up to the test.
Archives
add a lot of I/O which does not typically exist during normal production.
Second look at the transfer block size and the number of buffers.
onbar
=====# BAR_NB_XPORT_COUNT - Specifies the number of data buffers that
# each onbar_d process uses to communicate
# with the database server
# BAR_XFER_BUF_SIZE - The size, in pages, of each data buffer.
# Acceptable values are 1 through 15 for
# 4 KB pages and 1 through 31 for 2 KB pages.
ontape
======TAPEBLK ==> onconfigARCHIVE_BUF_COUNT ==> environment variable set when starting ontape
default is 3
