does anyone know about RDATESTR?

I have been told there is a INFORMIX-4GL built-in function call RDATESTR for formating an integer date field into a date string of "YYYYMMDD". Yet I can find nothing in my manuals about such a function. If I try to use it anywhere with the following syntax: call rdatestr(f_int) returning f_str the program will compile but fail at run time with an error indicating I'm not returning the correct number of variables.
