Both of these packages contain the Informix CLI (ODBC) driver along with the ODBC Admin tools for 32 bit Windows systems. This particular ODBC driver operates on top of the standard Informix Connectivity libraries and so you either need to use SETNET32 or to specify Setnet-like parameters to the CLI driver. Just a quick note, the version 2.00.TC1 is the follow-on version to 9.12.TC2 but has been renumbered since it is now generic. I.e. it works against 7.X, 8.X and 9.X Informix Server products. These Informix products are important for the Universal option for the Online Dynamic Server (formerly IUS) since this ODBC driver is the only one that recognizes extended data types. Now, as to your question about "remote access" of the database. Do you have any access to it? i.e. can you connect to it via SQLEditor or some other package on your client machine? Check what the exposed interface to the server is by checking in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts for any entries that use 'ontlitcp'. When you do, grep /etc/services for the socket and that is where you need to point your client machine to connect. I believe that these need to be set up. I am also assuming that you have an account on the machine in question, and that you are connecting via that username and password. Since I can't think of anything else off the top of my head, I hope this helps. Al >I have a question for all of you. I'm currently working with both Oracle >databases, and Informix databases.
