Why the applet can't connect to the database server remotely ?

Hi All, I programmed a java applet using informix object interface for java(RMICredentials) to connect to the informix dynamic server on my machine. It can connect to the database server if runed on my compuer , but if i run it on other compuers remotely, the applet can be started but it can't connect to the database and have no response(not dead, just do nothing ). What the problem may be ? Following is the detail information about the applet. You can try http://shemiran.usc.edu/jpl.htm to run the applet. My machine is a PC with Windows NT4.0 , informix dynamic server, Microsoft Internet informaiton server. I use symantec visualCafePDE to compose the applet. I have package the classes I used to an .jar file and put it the right place. And also I set the classpath environment variable to point to directory where the applet locates. The rmiregistry has been started using the command "start rmiregistry 1099" and also the RemoteCredentialFactoryImpl using "java RemoteCredentialFactoryImpl". The client machine has installed java Plug-in 1.1.1 and set the security options to unstricted and low. I have convert the HTML file using a converter downloaded from sun. But it still doesn't work.
