Prefixed table names
Posted in 1998
Hi All,
I'm getting to grips with some in-house developed software. On
entering SQL and performing 'Info', 'Table' I get presented with a
list of the tables in the database to choose from.
I notice some tables are prefixed with the name root and some without.
I produced a dbschema and a quick glance shows me that for those
listed without the root prefix it looks as though they were created by
the user 'peter'.
Is the output from 'Info', 'Table' perfectly reasonable?
Why would 'root' be an owner? Isn't it more usual to be either
'informix' or some other user name that has been designated the task
of being the DBA?
BTW, there is no entry for 'informix' in /etc/group or /etc/passwd. Is
this likely to cause me a problem?
Any views/comments on my query would be most welcome.
BTW, we're running SE V4, SQL V4, RDS V4.
Cheers, Ian.
