Correct use of the X/Open XA-Interface
Posted in 1999
Hi everybody! We want to do the transactional publish/subscribe in the context of a X/Open XA distributed transaction. We must think of two application scenarios: 1) the UDR's are called through ESQL, in a global distributed transaction context managed by CORBA OTS 2) the UDR's are called through client side libdmi interfaces Although case 1) is documented in the TP/XA Programmer's Manual, the really important things are left out, i.e. how exactly to call the xa methods to manage distributed transaction contexts. We need to know for example, what the semantic of the parameters of xa_open_entry (the xa_info_t struct) is. We tried several "connect string" and looked into the X/Open standards, but could not find any glue on the exact usage off the xa API. Do you have any technical paper available that tells more details about the xa API (besides the interface signature) ? Case 2) is even more difficult, as we are not sure if it would be possible at all to create an XA branch and somehow get a connection handle out if it (at least there are no documented ways to achieve this). Your help is very much welcome (and really needed ) Best regards from Germany, --Reiner
