Using error messages as Informix does

Hi! We're applications developers using Informix products. Informix products manages error messages and help messages using a pseudo-compiled or auto-indexed file for this. I would like to know how can I use this methodology for manage the error messages of our applications? Another question: How can I implement a different help manager for Informix Applications? I would like to do this without lost the functionality of the HELP clause. For example, I can use the HELP clause in MENU, INPUT, PROMPT statements. Has anybody "undefined" the SHOWHELP() function and implemented a new one? TO INFORMIX: YOU HAVE TO IMPROVE THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THESE ISSUES! WHY I COULDN'T USE THE HELP MANAGER I PREFER?
