Have you considered whether you should migrate to Windows NT?
Just kidding. :)
I'm curious what caused your Unix to crash. I've never run
Informix under Windows NT, only under Solaris/Sparc. If my
experience of Notes under Windows NT is any indication, it
should run for months without any babysitting(There are only
Lotus Notes and Symantec Anti-Virus on that server). On the other
hand, our Informix sometimes crashes under unexpected conditions.
For example, it once crashed when a statement "insert into table
select * from another_table." It turned out that though the twotables have the same columns, the order of two columns were
swapped. This is a progrmming error, indeed, not Informix's
fault.

We certainly bounce the engine once a week for that very reason. We also have SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 (unintentionally) bounce it for us - although this is hopefully) a temporary thing, as SCO chooses its times less well than we do !
